Loving the Android App

21 07 2011

So this is just a post to try out the WordPress Android App.  So far I like it.  I will keep you posted if my thoughts change.

Oh, by the way…I finally got a smart phone, the Droid Charge.

Testing out Gears for my blog…

27 11 2008

So I just stumbled across a Turbo button in my WordPress dashboard, it is supposed to make my blog posting faster (not make me blog more).  It is a program from the dreaded G word, but I installed it anyways.  We will see how it goes.

Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop

31 08 2008

So, I like to have many email addresses.  Some from my ISP, some from Yahoo!, and yes even a few from the dreaded G word.  I hated that you could not access them all from one location.  I then stumbled across Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop.  It allows you to configure all of the above into one client.  Pretty darn cool.  I still use it only for my “Web Only” accounts, but that was what I was looking for.  Try it if you have multiple web email accounts.

Comcast has finally stepped it up[load]

22 06 2008

For the longest time I have been very happy with Comcast as my high speed internet provider, except for one thing, upload speed.  They have always had the ability to increase our upload speed, but chose to charge us for it, as if 50 bucks a month is loosing them money.  I never felt like paying more, because the download speeds have always been sufficiently better then DSL. But today I got an email letting me know that they have finally increased the upload bandwidth on the basic accounts to 1 Mbps.  So the first thing I did was run off to Broadband Reports to test it out.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the were not teasing me:

Short distance Flash based test:

Long distance Java based test:

This must be the Comcast “PowerBoost” talking:

It keeps getting better (Updated at 8:02 AM):

The test tools state that my download will not reach max cap over the long haul, so those are expected results.

Finally, thank you Comcast. Now the next thing that you can work on, since you have been doing us wrong for some time…lower your dang prices!

Friends do not let friends do the G thing.

13 03 2008

To anyone and everyone, please let Yahoo! know that the worst thing they can do is get in to bed with Bill & the Microsoft machine.  I know that I have not posted in awhile, but this is something that I wanted to get off my chest.  I have posted a comment at http://feedback.help.yahoo.com/feedback.php?.src=FP&.from=501&.done=http://www.yahoo.com to let them know how I felt.  You too can do the same.

For the record, I use the following:

My Yahoo! Which is my home page, and I love it.

Yahoo!

Yahoo!  Search For those who want a very clean search page.

Yahoo! email

Flickr I love this site, and I have been on the verge of going gone “pro” (see post above).

del.icio.us  I really like this as I have my bookmarks where ever that I am.

I also use Yahoo! as my default search in any browser (I guess I should also plug the best browser on the planet…Firefox) that has built in search functions.  I have vowed to Yahoo!, that if they get into bed with Microsoft, that I am jumping on board with the G thing…I do not even like to say the full word out loud, but I will if I have too.

Microsoft Updates

22 11 2006

Remember all, there are some new and important updates for your OS.  Be aware though, the new IE 7 is in the list.  Even though I have it and like it, I do not believe that it is ready for prime time.  So make sure that you un-check it from the list before proceeding with the download.  I believe that you can un-install it if you do not like it, but it could be a pain.

Wait to use IE 7 until all of your banking and education needs have accepted it.  Remember though, the best browser on the planet is Firefox.
