Wine of the night – 2007 epicuro Nero D’Avola

Hello to you,

I was at Trader Joe’s today and picked up a vertical tasting via epicuro.  The first is the Nero D’Avola, from the Sicilia region of Italy.  So far it is yummy.

From the bottle:

Made only from the Nero d’Avola grapes, this is a great wine with a beautiful rich, bright garned colour and full bouquet redolent of berries, cherries and spices.  The flavour is clear-cut, full-bodied and elegant.  perfect with grilled red meats, and game.

All I can say, is Yes I agree!  I did not have it with the meat of game, I had it it with Wheat Thins and cheese, but good the same.  At 4.99, per bottle, this is a great price, really great price.

Wine of the night – Milan Ruz

Hello to all,

Tonight is the entry level Dobra wine, Milan Ruz.  That being said, it is the thing that keeps me going back.  Dobra Zemlja!  Although, I have to admit, that this last time that I went there, I did not feel the love.  There was a new duo behind the counter.  I was flying solo, which could be a bad thing, but Terra d’Orro & Bray treated me like royalty.  But, I will not hold that against them this time, I will wait until my next visit.   Regardless of my latest experience, I say go to Dobra and grab a bottle of the Milan Ruz and enjoy.  I was there, and could not helpmyself…hehe.  A bottle of Milan Ruz, Zin & a Tempranillo for my dad.  I have not told him yet, so shhh keep it a secret…lol.

Wine of the night – 2007 Montevina Aglianico

Montevina – Terra d’Oro

Tonight was a Montevina night.  A 2007 Aglianico kinda night (club member only).  I am a new and very happy fan of this wine!  One of the notes on the wine was the cherry, and wowzer it has a cherry flavor to it!  I became a member this weekend of the Montevina winery, and I was happy to do so.  Great discounts on superb wines!

Wine & The Cure

Hello to all.

Tonight is a mix of The Cure and a wine I picked up at TJ’s called Stonehedge Reserve Petite Syrah.  Well, if I have to tell you about The Cure, then the conversation is over…So I will talk about the wine.

2005 Stonehedge Reserve Petite Syrah bottled in Lodi from Special Vineyard Select grapes (according to the bottle).  The other reserve red wines at their site retail for $34 dollars, and I picked this up at TJ’s for 9.99.  I say what a dang steal.  I would have to say, that this is a good definition of what a PS should be at such an affordable price.  I have had some great, and I mean really great PS’s but I can not wait to get back to TJ’s to pick up more of this one.
